SEB was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. At 10 his family moved to England, then Canada and finally to the US. SEB studied Fine Art at the University of Vermont (as a minor) and paints abstract and figurative paintings, in an expressionist (or self-described ‘messy’) manner.
About my work
I tend to work in batches of 6 to 8 paintings of various sizes. I change my focus and exploration from batch to batch.
Although I am partial to yellow and do not use much black, my opinions on color seem to change frequently.
Often form and color are somewhat random. I prefer the painting stand on its own or have narrative applied by the viewer. I try to have a very open mind when I paint. I enjoy the experience of chance in a painting.
